Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Induction Furnace Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance function of a Steel Melting Shop (SMS).

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring maximum availability and reliability of Induction Furnaces and associated SMS equipment, minimizing breakdowns and downtime, implementing preventive and predictive maintenance systems, and leading maintenance teams.

The role requires strong hands-on experience in Induction Furnace mechanical systems, hydraulics, cooling-water systems, refractory/coil-related maintenance, EOT cranes, CCM auxiliaries, pumps, compressors and material-handling equipment.

Key Requirements

1. Induction Furnace Maintenance
Manage preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of Induction Furnaces.
Monitor furnace coil, crucible/refractory condition, furnace body, tilting mechanism and hydraulic systems.
Maintain furnace cooling-water circuits, pumps, heat exchangers and associated piping.
Monitor furnace panel cooling and identify abnormal temperature, pressure and flow conditions.
Plan and execute furnace coil replacement, refractory maintenance and major overhauls.
Maintain furnace auxiliaries and associated mechanical systems.
2. SMS Equipment Maintenance

Responsible for maintenance of:

Induction Furnaces
Furnace hydraulic tilting systems
CCM auxiliaries
EOT cranes and lifting equipment
Ladle handling systems
Cooling-water systems
Pumps and pipelines
Air compressors
Hydraulic power packs
Dust extraction systems
Scrap handling and charging equipment
Material handling systems
Other SMS mechanical equipment
3. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
Prepare and implement equipment-wise PM schedules.
Develop inspection checklists and maintenance standards.
Monitor equipment condition and identify potential failures before breakdown.
Maintain equipment history cards and maintenance records.
Track PM compliance, equipment availability, MTBF and MTTR.
Implement TPM and reliability improvement practices.
4. Breakdown & RCA
Lead emergency breakdown response.
Analyze equipment failures and identify root causes.
Conduct RCA for repeated breakdowns.
Implement permanent corrective and preventive actions.
Minimize production losses caused by equipment failures.
Maintain breakdown reports and downtime analysis.
5. Shutdown & Major Maintenance
Plan annual/monthly shutdown maintenance activities.
Prepare manpower, spare-parts and equipment requirements.
Coordinate shutdown activities with Production and Electrical/Instrumentation teams.
Ensure maintenance work is completed safely and within the planned shutdown duration.
6. Team Management
Lead maintenance engineers, supervisors, fitters, technicians and contractors.
Allocate manpower according to maintenance priorities.
Train team members in equipment maintenance and safe work practices.
Monitor team performance and productivity.
7. Spare Parts & Cost Control
Identify and maintain critical spare-parts inventory.
Prepare minimum/maximum stock levels for critical equipment.
Coordinate with Stores and Purchase departments.
Control maintenance expenditure and optimize repair/replacement costs.
Evaluate vendors and maintenance contractors.
8. Safety & Compliance
Ensure strict implementation of LOTO, Permit-to-Work and maintenance safety procedures.
Ensure safe isolation before maintenance activities.
Conduct maintenance safety inspections.
Ensure statutory inspection and safe operation of cranes and lifting equipment.
Maintain proper maintenance documentation and records.

Qualifications

B.E./B.Tech./Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

Compensation

₹100,000 – ₹150,000 per year
